People ask me why anyone would give away three books. Fair question. Writing them took years, and the paperbacks sit on Lulu with a price on them like anyone else's.
Here's the honest answer. I didn't write Lord of Water to sell a book. I wrote it because the story arrived and wouldn't leave, and because the idea underneath it, that the water planets are worth protecting and that someone has to stand for them, matters more to me than a royalty.
A story only does its work when it's read. A free trilogy gets read. It gets read on phones on the train, by people who would never have risked five dollars on an author they'd never heard of, and some of those people write to me afterwards. Those letters are the whole reason the Letters to the Editor exist.
The paperbacks are there for the readers who want the book on a shelf, and I'm grateful every time one goes out. But the words themselves are free, start to finish, and they'll stay that way.
If you haven't started, the first three chapters are open to anyone, and your name and email unlock the rest.
